Parent Pathways (Florence Crittenton): Parent Pathways is moving their administrative office to a building next to the Florence Crittenton School in September 2008.  After they have moved into their new location Zonta II will deliver baby and children's clothing that we obtained from Imprints last year for their baby store.

Chrysalis:   Graduation will take place on September 16th at approximately 2:00 p.m. in courtroom 12T at the Denver County Court House.  Beth F. is our Club's coordinator.  Our Club voted to purchase a cake and bottled water for this event.

Race for the Cure:   Walk with fellow Zonta sisters on Sunday, October 5th in the largest race in the country.  Diane Hara is our Club's volunteer coordinator and has established a Zonta Club of Denver II team.  Keep in mind this date is in conflict with the District Conference to be held in Colorado Springs.

Warren Village:   The "Great American Jacket Exchange" benefiting Warren Village will take place on Thursday, October 16th.  The event will be held in the ballrooms of The Oxford Hotel at 1637 Wazee Street.  Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door PLUS two donated gently used/new jackets, blazers, coats and/or purses.  Kathy Dean will be our coordinator.  Her volunteers are Sharon Faircloth, Diane Hara, Terri Otley, Gail Pringle, Pat Congleton and Beth Faragher (?). A silent auction will not occur for this event. However, the Warren Village Great American Exchange will need assistance in selling gift bags (hope to have 100 bags) which will contain gift certificates for products (e.g., restaurants, movies, possible hotel stays) and service (e.g., facials, massages, haircuts).

If Zonta members want to donate gently used or new jackets and purses - it is suggested those donations be brought directly to the event on October 16th because Warren Village does not have the room to store the donations.

Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic:   RFB&D continues to provide us with a multitude of varied service projects.  Please contact Carol J. or Mary M. to participate or if you need additional details .

+Bookmarking--You can collect service hours from the comfort of your own home by preparing books to be read by trained readers.  For further information, contact Carol J. or Bob Janowski at bobrfbd@qwestoffice.net

+Have a few hours to spare a day/a week on administration/special projects?  Marie at RFB&D could use your help.  Contact Carol J. for additional information.

Thanks to Jan H., Jean G., Beth F., Gail P., Terri O. Joanne H., and Carol J. for an evening of folding, stuffing, labeling, and sorting by zip a large portion of RFB&D's 3,000 piece mailing scheduled to be mailed on September 10th.  Approximately half the mailing was completed.  And - MANY thanks to Terri Otley for coordinating the completion of the mailing with one of her clients who has a folding/stuffing machine.  The folks at RFB&D were thrilled!

Learning Source :  The Learning Source is requesting our help with a graduation celebration which is planned for November 5th.  Mary Moser is our volunteer coordinator.  Volunteers are: Sharon Faircloth, Kathy Dean, Marie Kriss, Terri Otley, Marcy O'Toole and Pat Congleton.

Central Visitation :  The annual fall art auction fund raising event (including a silent auction) will be held at 1261 Delaware Street in Denver (Golden Triangle area) on Friday, October 24th from 5:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.  Eight volunteers are needed for this event which has always been a popular one with our Club.  Joanne Herlihy will be the coordinator.  Volunteers to date include Sharon Faircloth, Kathy Dean, Diane Hara and Pat Congleton.  More volunteers are needed for this event.

Freedom Service Dogs:   It's bow-wow graduation on Sunday, October 12th from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Hampden Hall in the Englewood Civic Center.  We need two-three volunteers to serve cake/punch.  Please let Kathy D. or Carol J. know if you would be willing to participate.  The Club has voted to purchase cake and punch for this event.  Volunteers:  Kathy Dean, Jeannie Snider, Barb Anders (?), Marcy O'Toole (?).

Colorado Railroad Museum :  The 7th "Day Out With Thomas" event will take place September 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28th.  The museum expects about 50 children at each 15-minute reading that will take place every hour from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Readers are needed for about 75 minutes.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Donald at the museum at 303-279-4591 or e-mail him at donald@crrm.org

SafeHouse:   The annual fund raising gala is scheduled for Friday, October 17th at Wings Over the Rockies.  Volunteers are needed to help with the event.  Marie Kriss is our coordinator.  Also, SafeHouse asked us for a "themed basket" for their auction.  Kriss is coordinating this effort; if you have ideas or care to participate, contact her asap.  A copy of SafeHouse's current wish list is attached; for up-to-the-minute needs, check their website at www.safehouse-denver.org   These items can be delivered directly to the shelter.  Call Kriss if you need the shelter address.  When you arrive and buzz for entry, please identify yourself as being with the Zonta Club of Denver II.  P.S.  Many of you may remember Valerie Chilewsky.... SafeHouse is lucky to have recently added her to their staff as Development Officer. Volunteers for this event are Barb Anders & Jeannie Snider.  More volunteers are needed for this event.

General Donations:   Barb Anders recently delivered many of our donations:  School supplies were delivered to Parent Pathways (and they ne ed more!).  Toiletries and miscellaneous items for "the store" were delivered to Empowerment.  Please keep in mind that our Club can find a home for almost any usable household item and clothing.  We know the Empowerment "store" needs items, I.e. candles, note cards, perfume - all small items women enjoy.  Tell your family and friends!

If you have any questions about our service activities, please contact Barb Anders.
